How do they each work?
All of these different types of systems have different ways in which they work.
Electric hot water systems
There are two types of electric hot water systems that you may choose between, continuous flow or storage. Both of these work fairly similar where cold water is collected in the tank and is then heated up. The main difference between the two types is that for a storage system, all of the water is heated up and stored before being sent out to the right place when a tap is turned on. However, in a continuous flow system, the water is heated only as needed.
Instant gas hot water systems
An instant gas water heater works similar to a continuous-flow electric hot water system where the water is heated whenever it’s needed. However, this water heater works on a gas system instead of an electrical system. Instant gas hot water systems come in both LPG and natural gas models.
Gas storage hot water systems
Gas storage hot water systems work by heating a burner under the tank. As the burner heats the water in the tank, hot water slowly rises to the top and whenever a hot tap is turned on, the water flows out to where it’s needed.
Heat pump hot water system
Heat pump hot water systems work by transferring the heat from the air outside and using it to heat the water inside the tank. Modern heat pump systems are even usable in cooler climates making them great for anyone.
